Sunday House at The Sanctuary

Five stars: The ranch, the modern guest house (huge high ceilings!), the longhorn cattle and friendly goats, communication with Vanessa, and the amazing view of the countryside and cattle outside the big picture windows. Four stars: For such a big ranch, the feeling of privacy suffers from being right next to the main house and sharing a driveway. If you really want total peace and quiet, this isn't it; it's more like staying in your friend's guest cottage right next door to their house. Three stars: The outside area around the house needs some love. The chairs are flimsy and the path to the hot tub and grill is overgrown with weeds. Watch out for grass burs / stickers (painful if you step on them). Inside, the furniture and wares feel too cheap for how nice the house is. Overall it felt like 4 stars but with some amazing high points (the ranch, the animals, the architecture) that might still make it worth it for you.

We made a spontaneous trip from Austin to watch the meteor showers and the dark sky was perfect. We sat outside and took it in for hours. The house was clean, comfortable, and in a great location. The beds sleep great. It has everything you need to cook and is close enough to restaurants while feeling far away from everything. The goats and longhorns and surrounding land are all beautiful. We will definitely be back.

Beautiful. Loved seeing the longhorn. Owner is very responsive. Pool is the city’s. We sadly missed this. We picked the house thinking it was on property. Click on owners photo for info. Spiders found daily in rooms. Bothered us so we couldn’t sleep thinking about them crawling in our ears. Lol. Expect bug noise at night. Found a wasp nest in the loving room after two wasps were flying around. Owner offered to spray. I never received confirmation and wasp nest was still there when we returned. Disclaimer of spiders would have been nice. Trash found under bed in one room. Iron was not there as listed. Owner explained no option to edit to streamer. I usually pack based on what is available so would have been good to know. Stickers were all over rug in living room. Too many to get all. Feet were not happy. No curtain for big window/kitchen area so a bit nervous at night time due to night out and we didn’t want bugs to be attracted by the light if turned on too long. Wanted to love it.
